Booking with a travel agent or tour operator
A good operator earns its fee when plans change. Check how bookings are protected and what happens if you, or they, need to cancel.
What to check
- Registration with the travel or tourism authority where they trade
- Financial protection for your payments
- Clear cancellation and refund rules
- Real, recent reviews of the specific trip or tour
Questions to ask
- What exactly is included in the price?
- Who do I call if something goes wrong while I am away?
- What happens to my money if the trip is cancelled?
