About
Hiring a web designer or developer
A website is easy to start and expensive to redo. Before signing, be sure you will own the site and can move it if the relationship ends.
What to check
- A portfolio of live sites you can click through yourself
- You own the domain, hosting account and code
- Mobile speed and basic SEO are included, not extras
- Who maintains the site after launch, and at what cost
Questions to ask
- Which platform will you build on, and why?
- Can I edit text and images myself afterwards?
- What is included in the price, and what is billed by the hour?
