On WordPress, paste the title and description into your SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math) instead; it writes these tags for you. Changed tags on a page already shared? LinkedIn and Facebook cache the old card. Re-scrape it in LinkedIn's Post Inspector or Facebook's Sharing Debugger.
A link with no image and a cut-off title gets scrolled past.
When you or a customer shares your page, LinkedIn, Facebook and WhatsApp build the card from your Open Graph tags. Without them they guess, and usually pick the wrong text or no image at all.
- What are Open Graph tags?
- Meta tags in your page's head that tell Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack and others which title, description and image to show when the page is shared.
- What size should the share image be?
- 1200 by 630 pixels, under 5 MB, as JPG or PNG. Keep text away from the edges, because some apps crop it to a square.
- I changed my tags but LinkedIn still shows the old card. Why?
- LinkedIn and Facebook cache cards for days. Paste the link into LinkedIn's Post Inspector or Facebook's Sharing Debugger to make them read the page again.
- Do meta tags help my Google ranking?
- The title does, and a good description raises the share of people who click. Open Graph tags do not change ranking but decide how your link looks everywhere it is shared.
- Want every page's titles and descriptions fixed?
- The SEO Sprint rewrites titles and descriptions across your site from your Search Console data, so more searches turn into clicks.
