Make your images smaller without them looking worse.

Drop in photos, choose a format and width, and download files that are often 70 to 90% smaller. Your images are never uploaded: the work happens on your device.

Why it matters

  • Big photos are the top reason small sites load slowly
  • Google uses page speed on phones as a ranking signal

Images, briefly

The fastest page is the one with the smallest images.

A single phone photo can be 4 MB; the same picture at website size is often under 200 KB. Resize to the width it is shown at, then compress.

Which format should I use?
WebP for websites: it is the smallest and every current browser shows it. JPEG when a file must open anywhere, such as email attachments. PNG only for logos and graphics with sharp edges or transparency.
What quality setting is best?
70 to 80% is usually indistinguishable from the original at normal viewing size. Go lower for thumbnails, higher for photography portfolios.
What width should I use?
Rarely more than 1600 px for a full-width image on a website, 800 to 1200 px for images inside text, and 400 px for avatars. Larger than the space it is shown in just wastes download time.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are processed in your browser and never leave your device, so private photos and documents stay private.
Is your whole site slow?
The SEO Sprint measures speed on real phones and fixes images, caching and the other things that hold your pages back.
