Pay, briefly
$25 an hour is $52,000 a year, if you're paid for all 52 weeks.
The usual shortcut is hourly × 2,080 (40 hours × 52 weeks). It holds for a salaried job with paid holidays. Freelancers aren't paid for holidays or quiet weeks, so the same rate earns less.
- How do I convert a salary to an hourly rate?
- Divide the yearly salary by the hours you're paid for in a year. With 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks that's 2,080 hours, so 52,000 a year is 25 an hour.
- How many working hours are in a year?
- 2,080 for a 40-hour week with every week paid. With 4 weeks of unpaid leave it's 1,920.
- How do I convert hourly to monthly pay?
- Multiply the hourly rate by hours a week, then by paid weeks a year, then divide by 12. 25 an hour at 40 hours is 4,333.33 a month.
- Is this before or after tax?
- Before tax. Take-home pay depends on your country's tax and deductions.
