Is your business name free as a domain?
Type a name. We turn it into domain versions, with and without dashes, and check each ending in public DNS straight from your browser.
What you get
- 16 endings incl. .com, .co.uk, .pk, .in
- With and without dashes
- Private: checks run in your browser
Still choosing a name? Use the business name generator.
No name yet? Try the business name generator. Checks go straight from your browser to Google Public DNS; we don't see or store them.
Domains, briefly
Short, easy to spell, and the same as your business name.
If you have to spell your domain out on the phone, it's too long or too clever. A .com is still what most people type by default; a country ending like .co.uk or .pk works well for a local business.
- How does the checker know a domain is available?
- It asks Google Public DNS whether the name exists. Registered domains almost always exist in DNS; a name that doesn't is very likely free. Premium and reserved names are the exception, so confirm at a registrar before buying.
- Should I use dashes in my domain?
- Usually not. People forget them. Use the dash version only if the joined-up name is hard to read, and consider buying both.
- .com is taken. What now?
- Try your town or trade in the name (brightsmiledallas.com), a country ending, or a short word like get, try or hq. Avoid a name that is only one letter away from a competitor.
- Do you see the names I check?
- No. The checks go from your browser to Google Public DNS. Nothing passes through our server.
- Got the domain?
- Make your email signature and set up a professional address on it.
