Who we are

This policy explains how [Business name] ("we", "us") collects and uses personal information when you visit [website] or contact us.

If you have a question about your information, email [contact email].

What we collect

Basic technical information your browser sends when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view.

What you send us through our contact or enquiry form, such as your name, email address, phone number and message.

How we use it

We use your information to answer your questions and send quotes you ask for, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it and to keep the site secure and prevent abuse. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies and similar technology.

Analytics cookies tell us which pages are visited and how people found us. The figures are about visitors in general.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Who we share it with

We share information only with services that help us run the business, under their own privacy terms: Google Analytics.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for up to two years, order and invoice records for as long as tax law requires, and mailing-list addresses until you unsubscribe. Then we delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Depending on your state (for example California, Virginia or Colorado), you may have further rights, including to opt out of targeted advertising. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

To make a request, email [contact email]. We reply within one month.

Security

We use HTTPS on the whole site and limit who can access your information. No website is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive details such as passwords or card numbers by email.

Children

Our site is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law says so). If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date below shows the last change. Last updated: 2026-10-27.

A plain-English starting point, not legal advice. Read it, make sure it matches what your site really does, and have it checked if you handle health, financial or children's data. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Privacy policies, briefly

If your site has a contact form or analytics, you need one.

Any site that collects names, emails or cookies is processing personal data. Google Ads, AdSense, Meta and most payment providers also require a privacy policy before they approve you.

Do I need a privacy policy?
If your website collects any personal information, including a contact form, a newsletter or analytics cookies, then yes in most countries. Ad networks and payment providers also require one.
Is this policy legally binding advice?
No. It's a well-structured starting point written from your answers. Check it matches what your site actually does, and get legal advice if you handle health, financial or children's data.
What is GDPR?
The data protection law in the EU and UK. It applies if you have customers or visitors there, even if your business is elsewhere. Picking UK or EU adds the legal-basis, cookie-consent and complaint sections it requires.
Where do I put the policy?
On its own page, such as example.com/privacy, linked from your site's footer and next to any form that collects details.
Using Google Analytics?
Make your links trackable with the UTM link builder.

Need forms, cookies and tracking set up properly?

We build sites with consent, analytics and enquiry forms that work and are compliant.
