Tell AI assistants what your business does
Write a short summary, list the pages that matter, and get an llms.txt file to copy or download. Templates for local businesses, agencies and software companies.
Pairs well with
The AI robots.txt builder, so AI search crawlers can read the pages you list, and the schema generator for the facts about your business.
1 · Start from
2 · About the business
3 · The pages that matter
One page per line: Title | /address/ | short note. Paths starting with / use your website above.
A section called “Optional” marks pages an assistant may skip when it is short of space.

Upload it to the top folder of your site so it opens at yoursite.com/llms.txt, next to robots.txt.
llms.txt is a young, voluntary standard: some AI tools read it, none are required to. It helps most alongside clear pages, structured data and a robots.txt that lets AI search crawlers in. Want to know whether ChatGPT and Perplexity mention you? See the AI Search Visibility Audit.
People now ask ChatGPT before they ask Google. Make the answer about you.
AI assistants answer from what they can read and trust. A clear summary, the right pages, structured data and an open door for AI search crawlers all raise the chance you are the business they name.
- What is llms.txt?
- A plain text file at yoursite.com/llms.txt, in a simple Markdown format, that summarises your site for AI assistants and points them to the pages that matter most. It was proposed in 2024 at llmstxt.org.
- Does llms.txt help me rank in ChatGPT or Google?
- Nobody can promise that. It is voluntary, and AI companies don't publish whether they use it. It costs little to add, and it helps tools that do read it. Clear pages, structured data and letting AI search crawlers in matter more.
- Is llms.txt the same as robots.txt?
- No. robots.txt says which crawlers may visit which pages. llms.txt describes the site and lists the best pages to read. Most sites should have both.
- Where do I put the file?
- In the top folder of your website, next to robots.txt, so it opens at yoursite.com/llms.txt. On WordPress, upload it with your host's file manager or an FTP client.
- Is anything I type sent anywhere?
- No. The file is built in your browser and nothing you enter leaves this page.
Do ChatGPT and Perplexity mention you?
We ask the AI assistants the questions your customers ask, record who they name, and tell you what to fix so it's you.
