Type one to three words about your business (what you sell, a feeling, your own name) to get 30 name ideas, then check which domains are still free.
Free, no sign-up. Names are made in your browser. The domain check sends only the domain names to Google Public DNS.
A good name is one customers can find again.
Most people hear a business name once, from a friend or on a sign, and then type it into Google or WhatsApp. If they can spell it and the domain matches, they find you. If not, they find someone else.
- How do I come up with a business name?
- Start with one to three words about what you sell, the feeling you want, or your own name. The generator combines them with words used in your industry, coins short brandable words, and adds your city if you want a local name. Star the ones you like, then check the domains.
- How does the domain check work?
- For each name it asks Google Public DNS whether the domain has any name servers. A domain nobody has registered has none, so it shows as "Looks free". A registered domain shows as "Taken", and you can click it to see the registration record. Always confirm at a registrar before you buy.
- Which domain ending should I choose?
- A .com is still the safest choice if you sell worldwide. If your customers are in one country, the local ending (.pk, .in, .co.uk, .ae, .com.au) is trusted and usually easier to get. Buy both if you can, and point one to the other.
- Is a free domain name also free to use as a business name?
- Not always. Another business may use the name without owning the domain, or may have trademarked it. Search your country's company and trademark registers, and Google the name with your city, before you print signs or register the company.
- What makes a good business name?
- Short, easy to say on the phone, easy to spell after hearing it once, and not too close to a competitor. Avoid hyphens and numbers in the domain, and say it out loud to a few customers before deciding.
- What does the website cost once I have the name?
- The website cost calculator shows the hours behind a business site, shop or web app, and what it costs to run each year.
